December

20 - A fire guts an antique dealer in NYC, killing the owner. Reports claim that a metal disc etched with the phrase "Mutant Hater, Rest in Pieces" was found at the scene. [ link ]

20 - The Oregon Supreme Court finds in favor of the state in the case of X v. Oregon. With the stated intent to appeal, the case is slated to be first on the docket of the Supreme Court in the new year and will be the first to challenge the constitutionality of X-ID. [ link ]

20 - As Associate Justive Thomas K. Davids Associate Justive Thomas K. Davids prepares to retire in the new year, President Richards nominates Judge Stephen Ferguson as the next member of the Supreme Court. [ link ]

19 - President Richards extends his sympathy to Xavier's School and condemns the DHS' actions. He also alludes to mutants who have been working with the government, a statement which causes much speculation and concern across the country. [ link ] [ link ] [ link ]

17 - The Department of Homeland Security conducts a secretive raid on Xavier's 'mutant school' in Westchester in a search for information that might connect it to the outbreak of mutant terrorism in the New York area. Several are injured and one student, Jones, is killed. [ link ] [ link ]

1 - A large mutant described as a 'monster' attacks and abducts a bartender in Chelsea. [ link ] [ link ]

1 - Two mutants, one of whom caused chaos at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and one who can apparently turn himself to metal, attack several passersby in Central Park. [ link ]

November

7 - Nationwide elections take place, and the Republicans strengthen their control of both Senate and House. [ link ] [ link ]

October

30 - Roger Lowe is buried in Arlington Cemetary. [ link ]

25 - Vice President Henry Richards is sworn in as the President of the United States aboard Air Force One at 7:21 p.m. [ link ]

25 - President Roger Lowe is killed in an attack on his convoy in Washington D.C. Early reports suggest mutant involvement. [ link ] [ link ]

17 - New evidence suggests that Lowe campaign funds were used to fuel mutant attacks. [ link ]

15 - Magneto takes responsibility for the electromagnetic pulse that shut down most of New York City. [ link ]

14 - Dr. Charles Xavier and Dr. Jean Grey announce the existence of a 'school for the gifted', a group which "includes mutants," in Westchester. Xavier's School is flooded by reporters and other curious sight-seers. [ link ]

13 - With the help of federal, local, and donated relief, as well as city officials and volunteers from groups like the Red Cross, most New York citizens are slowly returning to work, enjoying functioning public transportation, and working to be re-supplied with electronics on a very slow basis. 11 - The Friends of Humanity" and called for strict ordinances against any unauthorized mutants within a "respectable distance" of power grids, water treatment plants, and refineries. [ link ]

4 - Power is restored to New York City, piped in from other suppliers along the eastern seaboard. Rolling blackouts are expected, and most citizens are still without working electrical equipment. [ link ]

2 - The National Guard is called in to restore order to New York City, and the curfew is strictly enforced. [ link ]

1 - A few minutes before the 9 p.m. curfew, a massive electromagnetic pulse sweeps through most of Manhattan and parts of Queens and New Jersey. The affected areas are not only left without power, but all electronic equipment in the area no longer works. Several helicopters crash as their systems fail, and in the darkness, the streets break into riots and disorder again. September

30 - The House Judiciary Committee begins its investigation into President Roger Lowe's campaign. [ link ]

24 - Mutants start riots in Chinatown, leaving several city blocks in disaster. Over the course of the following weekend, further violence occurs all over the city, prompting New York offiicals to institute a 9 p.m. curfew. [ link ] [ link ] [ link ]

23 - As another aide comes forward to support the allegations against Lowe, claiming that the then-Senator had once told him that he would win the election at all costs, pressure to form a full investigation rises while Lowe's poll numbers drop. [ link ] [ link ]

13 - A former college-aged Lowe campaign worker comes forward to support the accusations leveled against President Lowe last week. [ link ] Some think Lowe kills puppies, too. [ link ]

10 - The White House denies Rourke's accusations, and Lowe supporters suggest that the reporter is nothing more than a muckraker. Some bloggers go searching, and dig into the death of a mutant named Rebecca Winters, linking her to the accusations. [ link ]

8 - New York Post reporter Harvey Rourke publishes accusations that President Roger Lowe used mutant thugs and created violent incidents in order to shore up the support that got him elected. [ link ] [ link ]

1 - An investigation is opened into money-laundering on the part of Rick Heune, a former New York lawmaker and a prominent booster for President Lowe's re-election campaign. [ link ]

August

31 - The ACLU takes up the case of New Jersey v. Drummond, intending to take the challenge of mandatory registration all the way to the Supreme Court. [ link ] [ link ]

19 - After incriminating photos are published, Communications Director Anthony Baird steps down for 'personal reasons'. [ link ]

18 - A sixteen year old intern requests that White House Communication Director Anthony Baird submit to a DNA paternity test. [ link ]

17 - The deadline for mutant registration arrives. [ link ] [ link ]

July

17 - President Roger Lowe signs X-ID into law. In a surprise addition, the long-debated Sensitive Positions bill is also delivered to his desk and signed into law. Mutants have 30 days to register in the MRA database. [ link ]

15 - X-ID passes through both houses of Congress, with votes for the bill in both parties. [ link ]

6 - New York's Hellfire Club, a playground for the rich and powerful, lose its entire south wing in a fire. One person dies in the blaze. [ link ]

5 - The X-ID contract is awarded to Alliant Star DefTech out of Phoenix.

2 - Three men and a woman are taken into custody in Chicago for questioning in connection with the June 21 attack on O'Hare International Airport. [ link ]

June

30 - A plant owned by Emma Frost, which is responsible for the final assembly and production of gene-testing devices integral to X-ID, is attacked, and several delivery trucks are destroyed. The involvement of Magneto is suspected. [ link ] [ link ]

30 - Representative Albert Simmons adds a rider to X-ID - the 'Simmons Amendment' - making registration under the MRA mandatory within 30 days of X-ID being signed. [ link ]

25 - Senator Kay Williams introduces the 'X-ID' act, which would give guidelines for State-issued IDs and ask them to identify mutants. The US government announces that they have the technology to make this possible. [ link ]

22-23 - Anti-mutant violence rises, including: A mutant-friendly coffee shop in Greenwich Village, The Sanctuary, is vandalized. [ link ] A 'mutant vigilante' called only 'Dorian' sends a man to the hospital after attack him. [ link ] Mutants and humans clash in Central Park. [ link ]

22 - The DOW drops 650 points, and airline traffic is 50% below normal levels in the wake of the Chicago O'Hare tragedy. [ link ]

21 - A bomb goes off at 3:59 AM in the baggage processing area at Chicago O'Hare International Airport. Over the course of the day, eleven more are found and defused. Three bombs are also discovered and defused in Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. Video surveillance indicates that mutants, including a telepath and a teleporter, were probably involved. In the wake of the information, anti-mutant violence rises to dangerous proportions across the country. Riots in Chicago are limited in area, but rack up considerable property damage. 7 - The body of a Jane Doe is found dead in Central Park, drained of blood and with bite marks similar to other victims over the last several months. [ link ]

6 - New York Post journalist Harvey Rourke publishes an interview with Friends of Humanity official Graydon Creed, titled: CREED CALLS FOR MUTANT HOLOCAUST. [ link ] [ link ]

May

29 - In Oklahoma, a 14 year old girl is held after allegedly breaking over $350. The prosecutor wants to try her not as an adult, but as a mutant. [ link ] [ link ]

23 - The 'sensitive positions' bill passed in the Senate with 62 yay votes and 8 abstentions, and moves on to the House of Representatives for further debate [ link ]

13 - The body of Malcom Marchenko is found in Brooklyn bearing strange wounds. Marchenko's cause of death was ruled as exsanguination via a wound in his left thigh, a wound very much resembling a small shark's bite. It is the second such death and the FBI reopens the earlier case of New Jersey resident Rose Calmonte. [ link ]

13 - A disturbance in Harlem turns into a battle between mutants on the streets of New York. Reports confirm bizarre weather, electrical shortages in the vicinity, and several cars and buildings damaged by percussive explosions. No positive identifications are made. [ link ]

8 - Graydon Creed, leader of the Friends of Humanity, denies Friends involvement in the safehouse attack. [ link ]

6 - Newsweek devotes an issue to the 'Mutant Menace.' [ link ]

6 - Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants terrorize a bar in Clinton called Paradise Found. A mysterious masked man joined the fray. [ link ]

April

19 - Worthington House, a safehouse for mutants in New York City, is attacked by masked men. The building is burnt to the ground, and several residents are injured in the fire and by sniper fire. Two apparently separate groups of mutants combat the men on the scene, and some speculate that the Brotherhood of Mutants is expanding. A fireman and a young safehouse resident die of their injuries. 11 - New evidence suggests that the events of 11/9 were manipulated by the Friends of Humanity in order to draw out the Brotherhood of Mutants, resulting in the Purity Massacre. [ link ]

9 - A local group, Mutant Watch, pressures the NYPD to support the sensitive positions bill. They mention the case of former NYPD detective Sean Cassidy as evidence of the need for the bill. [ link ]

3 - After much debate ( [ link ] [ link ] ), the 'sensitive positions' bill passes through committee and is introduced to the Senate floor. [ link ]

March

25 - An explosion at a musical performance by English musician Jonothon Starsmore appears to be mutant-related, perhaps caused by Starsmore himself. [ link ]

14 - A church is set ablaze in Harlem, killing three people and leaving a firefighter in critical condition. It is the fourth church to be burnt to the ground in two months. [ link ]

6 - A fire consumes the offices of Succubus Entertainments, taking the lives of CEO Stacia Ellison and her personal assistant Amara DePalmo. [ link ]

3 - A bill which, if made law, would allow employers to test workers in 'sensitive positions' for mutation is introduced to committee in the Senate. The bill would allow employers to fire employees who refused a test or who tested positive for a 'dangerous' mutation in certain lines of work. [ link ]

February

2 - Journalist Leah Canto, 'voice' of the Friends of Humanity, is executed. Video footage of her death spreads across the internet within hours. [ link ]

January

28 - Erik Lensherr escapes from a federal prison. [ link ]

26 - Public and international agitation leads government officials to allow Amnesty International to serve as a neutral observer in the case of Erik Lensherr. [ link ]

14 - Thanks to an anonymous tip, Erik Lensherr is taken into custody by the NYPD. A member of the FDNY, a paramedic, is killed, while another sustains critical injuries. [ link ]

10 - The WB announces that they will be filming a made-for-tv movie about the events of 11/9. [ link ]

9 - Weapons seized in a nationwide black market probe are matched to deaths at 11/9. [ link ]

5 - Magneto is sighted on the New York subway, sending passengers into a panic. [ link ]

2 - An AP article suggests that many of the victims of the 11/9 Purity rally were in fact pro-mutant rights and raises questions about this coincidence. [ link ]
