X-Men Movieverse: X-Factor is set in the X-Men movieverse, although game canon diverges after the events of the first X-Men movie. Our game is located at a top-secret military compound in the Santa Cruz mountains, just a few hours from San Fransisco.

The mutant issue has grown in visibility over the past decade, with various nations taking different stances: some see mutants as a threat, and some see mutants as a tool. X-Factor is a new approach by the United States government to this issue. First formed in 2008, X-Factor became a full team in 2009. It is a top-secret and highly experimental government organization: a team of mutants formed to deal with exceptional circumstances in a world where conventional solutions no longer seemed to apply. They operate in the United States and overseas, as called upon by the United States government.

The rest of the time, they are expected to keep themselves out of trouble and, most of all, out of the public eye. X-Factor team members live a double life. To the outside world, they are known as defense contractors working for Titan Enterprises, and they go to great lengths to keep their other activities and skills secret. As long as they do these things, no one looks too closely at what they do in their free time. All X-Factor information is considered extremely confidential, and most members of the government and military do not know that they exist. Their government liaison is an upper level official in the CIA known as 'Carpenter' who provides them with occasional missions and information. Carpenter keeps their funding flowing while demanding results.

Members of the X-Factor team play a variety of roles. Some are expected to be able to handle themselves in espionage and combat situations, and are trained accordingly. Other members, however, may work in other fields such as analysis, research, and intelligence.

New members are occasionally recruited in a variety of ways, but all of them involve a particular mutation or skill that would be useful to the team. Although it is expected that new team members will require a good deal of training in many areas, they must exhibit the potential to be a useful addition to the team and a certain level of trustworthiness before they are approached about membership.
