Recruiting
X-Factor is a highly-skilled
and trained organization of covert
operatives, most of whom are mutants. It regularly recruits those who
would be a benefit to the team, and ranges far and wide in its
recruitment efforts.
X-Factor does not demand that new team members be mission-ready, but it
does search for recruits who bring something valuable to the table from
the moment they join the team.
New team members are chosen for their potential, a potential that is measured in a number of ways. Useful education, skills, information, or mutation can all bring an individual to the attention of the X-Factor recruitment team.
Although it is expected that
new team
members will require a good deal of training in many areas, they must
exhibit the potential to be an overall useful addition to X-Factor, the
ability to work in a team and in the midst of high-stress situations,
and a significant
level of trustworthiness before they are approached about
membership.
Because of the nature of the work that X-Factor does, recruitment
almost always occurs because a recruit has come to the attention of a
team member or some very high-ranking government official. X-Factor
does
have access to the Mutant Registration Database and can see registered
mutants listed there. See our politics
page for more details and dates on the MRA.
Because X-Factor is secret from almost everyone, including government officials, no one is transferred, asssigned, or otherwise sent to X-Factor. X-Factor always goes to the recruit. Their Management has enough power to pull many strings, including rearranging military terms of service and re-negotiating contracts that may otherwise prevent a recruit from accepting their offer.
All recruits must be 18 years of age or older, although X-Factor prefers to recruit older agents with a solid background of experience.
