She was a graduate of Harvard with a B.Sc. in Molecular Biology at the age of twenty and an MD by twenty-three, and she became one of the first doctors to specialize in the emergent field of mutant medicine. Now in her mid-thirties, she has recently completed a PhD, with the subject of her thesis, the creation of a strain of lab mice with inactive X-factors, turned into a small startup business. She often presents academic papers on subjects of mutant science and has guest lectured at several universities. |

Moira MacTaggart is a world-renowned geneticist and Nobel Laureate. She is known as the mother of X-Factor genetics, having received her award for producing the first scientific body of work on the subject some twenty years ago. Her name is secured in textbooks alongside those of Gregor Mendel, Crick and Watson, Barbara McClintock and others of the pantheon of genetic science. She operates the Muir Island Biological Research Facility, and also holds the ancestral title of Lady Kinross. She has been linked romantically in the past with Dr. Charles Xavier. |

She has gained attention from scientific cirlces in 2007 and 2008 with her research, which uses mathematical algorithms and pattern theory to map can compare the brains of humans and mutants. She does her research at the Shaw Research Center at Emerson University with Bahir al Razi. |
