Friends of Humanity

Rank and Insignia

Each member of the Friends of Humanity, as soon as they are indoctrinated, receives the mark that allows them entry into official meetings–though an intruder risks discovery by nature of no one knowing them. These markings are based upon the rank of the person within the organization, and take the form of a tattoo, only visible under strong UV light.

The different stages of the mark have different meanings. The initial four-pointed star represents the four traits a Friend should live by–purity, loyalty, strength, and preservation. They also tie in nicely with the vows that an initiate takes, and repeats upon each promotion. The circles represent the Ouroboros snake, the infinite snake, representing the resolve to finish the job, and the permanence of the given vows. The barbs are simply a denotation of rank, though the finished symbol hints at a Templar style.

Initiate

Lowest of the low, scum of the earth, yet nonetheless the initiates provide a willing body of flesh for anything that needs to be done. Minor errands, the occasional brawl, anything useful but not particularly important. The useful amongst them are shown the door into true membership.

Friend

The solid block of men, trusted to an extent, reliable, and willing to put themselves in the path of danger for their cause. Most will have been convinced over a period of time that what they are doing is right and just, and generally they perform the day to day tasks of the FoH, and are the ones normally entrusted with any violence that needs to occur.

Higher Ranks

Each barb added to the symbol denotes an increase in rank by one, the highest the fourth rank, which Prime is reputed to carry. These people are the outstanding from within the organization; those who've shown that they are especially useful in some way to the Friends. Each rank can carry various different titles, dependant upon the responsibilities and style of the holder.
